Student Council Meeting Minutes
September 5th, 2012
Called to the order of Katherine S. Li, at 8:20 am in Room 14.
Assembly: Advisors, Officers, SSC, Homeroom Reps.
Present: Mr. Headley, Mrs. Orcutt, Katherine, Arnav, Yichen, Mihir, Morgan, Will, Annie, Mikayla, Saif, Claire, Meghna, Nicole, Homeroom Reps.
1. Welcome and Introduction
a. President - Katherine S. Li
b. Vice President - Arnav Virmani
c. Secretary - Yichen Zhu
d. Treasurer - Mihir Pandya

2. Responsibilities & Duties
a. Attend ALL full student council meetings, or arrange with the alternate
b. Present any ideas/projects
c. Have a VOICE and VOTE at meetings
d. Form committees through approval from Katherine
e. Removed from office: D or F on report card, U in progress report card, & Failure to perform the responsibilities
f. Qualifications
i. Must have consistently performed all responsibilities
ii. May not have failed attend 2 meetings semester without reasonable excuse and alternate
g. T-shirt
i. Must have consistently performed all responsibilities
ii. One homeroom rep t-shirt will be given per homeroom per semester
h. Last Meeting Minutes

3. Clubs
a. Forms (Starting a Club & Funding) will be in the office
b. Every club will need:
i. 3 people who wants to join + person who started the club
ii. an advisor
iii. bylaws
c. Anyone can create a club
d. The club will be approved by Student Council
4. Homeroom Competition
a. Teachers of the three classes with the most homeroom points at the end of every quarter
i. 1st place = $100
ii. 2nd place = $60
iii. 3rd place = $40
b. Lunchtime Activities
i. 1 or 2 people
ii. one individual can go only once per semester
iii. Feedback
- What they liked last year?
- What ideas do they have for Lunchtime Activities?
c. Spirit Days
i. Points based off participation
ii. Has to be submitted by the closest Sunday at 9:00 am.
iii. Disqualification for wrong calculations
iv. Have to bring/wear the item on the spirit day
d. Miller Spirit Day
i. 1 or more - mostly black, yellow, black+yellow, Miller Apparel, w/ mustang
ii. 2 of more - braces, face paint, makeup, jewelry/accessories, sunglasses
iii. NONE OF - everyday materials, hairties, shoelaces, markers, socks, watches, paper, underwear
iv. Follow the dress code!
v. Duck Tape counts if covering most of the shirt
vi. Have to wear it for the whole day
vii. Honor system in 2nd period P.E.

6. Magazine Drive
a. If 3 or more orders fo to the same address, 1 tree will be planted Miller’s name
b. Goal: 500 trees & $50,000
c. Participation for the pig-o-meter is when people sell one or more magazines.
d. ONLY COUNT ONE PERSON ONCE.
e. Homeroom reps need to fill in the pig-o-meter every Tuesdays and Fridays
f. Pig-o-meter located on the library wall facing the quad

8. Car Free Day
a. September 18-20
b. Walking, biking and carpooling
c. Punch cards: If you biked, walked, or carpooled
d. Checking cards for class total percentage of participation
e. Higher participation = more points
f. Trivia questions with be broadcasted through the announcements
g. Answer the question on an index card. Drop it off at the office
h. Every right answer will award the homeroom with points
i. The homeroom will also be entered in a prize drawing to win BONUS points at the end of the week.

c. Bring in 5 cans of unexpired food = free admission
d. For 7th & 8th graders only
e. Prize giveaway
f. Outdoor dance if the weather is okay
5. Halloween Parade

b. Categories: Funny, Cultural, Scary, Miller Spirit, Groups, Homemade, and Teachers.
i. Cannot compete in more than one categories
c. Those who wish to participate should meet in the quad at the beginning of lunch.
d. No weapons or imitation gun.
e. Follow the dress code
f. Mask is only worn during the parade
g. No time to change so wear your costume to school

a. 11/5 - 12/14 and second dance
b. Expired cans = disqualification
c. Every week there will be bonus donations
7. Purple Day
a. 10/26
b. One of more any article of clothing that is mostly purple, not red or pink! (not including hats)
c. Two or more of the following: Braces, face-paint, make-up, accessories (jewelry/hats/scarves) sunglasses, hairspray, etc.
d. Follow the dress code and Miller Top Ten Rules
8. Halloween Spirit Day
a. What Counts: any article of clothing that is mostly orange or black or orange AND black! (not including hats)
b. Halloween Costume (Needs to be obvious)
c. Two or more of the following: orange/black
9. Box Tops Collection
a. Class envelopes will be returned on 10/26!
